Vigil Held to support a Mother’s right to Choose
At 2pm on August the 18th outside the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, a small but supportive crowd of family, friends and concerned parents assembled with messages of love for Samantha Monaghan and her son Luc. The vigil was organised after the IWK denied Samantha the option of giving her own blood to save her son’s life, even though she is a perfect blood match.

Invisible Hands around my throat: Why some people can’t “Just Put one on like everyone else”
I took a deep breath and covered my baby’s face. The invisible hands were choking me as I did it. Those strong hands were tighter than I ever remembered before. But she had to be seen. She has a medical issue and it needs to be taken care of. I kept saying it’s okay, it’s only for a few minutes.. I looked at her beautiful face but only could see her eyes. It’s only for a few minutes…

Judicial Review update – June
The Citizens’ Alliance of Nova Scotia (CANS) has its next Judicial Review court date on August 31st, in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia. The postponement from June 10 was requested by the Respondents and consented to by CANS and our Co-Applicant Party, who joined the proceedings in March. He is a 15-year old youth who is represented by his litigation guardian.

A Hospital Visit During A “Pandemic”
My youngest son recently split his head open. He’s not shy about telling you, or showing you the scar he now wears like a badge of honour. It’s a symbol of his bravery and toughness in the face of metal benches everywhere, for that is how he split his head open – he lost a fight with a metal bench.

“The Forgotten” are the solution to our failing Healthcare Crisis
Remember November 30, 2021: D-Day for people to get their vaccine or be put on unpaid leave? Yup. Those dirty healthcare workers, aka The Forgotten, that didn’t comply. Even the physician that holds patents for the technology required to make “the cure” is one of the biggest proponents against mandates.

How have I been? Well…
How have I been? Well…
I suppose it starts with the Freedom Convoy in Ottawa. It was an emotional few weeks, and it culminated in a violent quelling of a peaceful protest, which was perfectly in line with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms Section 2(c) (the fundamental freedom of peaceful assembly). It was legal to participate in, and fund, such a gathering until the government decided to pass orders and measures which made it illegal.

Judicial Review update: April
All motions were granted by the court; a much desired outcome for CANS and its members: “The Applicant, Citizens’ Alliance of Nova Scotia (CANS), comes before this court seeking to engage the Judiciary to perform a vital and rigorous ‘check’ among the ‘checks and balances’ integral to Canada’s constitutional democracy. The Applicant is asking the Judicial branch of government to take a critical look at decisions and actions taken by the Executive branch of government to determine if they are reasonable and lawful”

Can We Please Give the Kids a Break?
I walked by the Mount Edward School in Dartmouth yesterday with my two boys. School was out, but there was a small cohort of about 10 children around the same age as mine (3 and 5), accompanied by two teachers, playing outside in the snow on a ball field. All of the children were wearing masks. Why?

Where Has our Democracy Gone?
On January 24th a concerned Nova Scotian sent an email to roughly 100 MLAs and media affiliates calling for a debate in the legislature on the measures our provincial government has undertaken since the start of the COVID pandemic. Simply put, the email asks for a return to democracy.

Do You Remember?
It’s hard to believe that we’ve been going through this for two years.
The constant mental anguish, for many the fear, the psychological battle within ourselves and that which has been projected onto us.
