"Invitation to social engagement and collaboration platform"

October 2022

Please join us on the Nova Scotia Community Network (NSCN) platform!

Nova Scotia Community Network (NSCN), powered by Citizens' Alliance NS, is ready! We are delighted to invite you to the platform and thank you for the time and energy you express on it! You will receive a unique sign-up link this week so keep an eye on your Inbox and check Spam. The Subject will be "An invitation to join www.NSCommunity.Network (NSCN)". Email us at contact@thecans.ca if you don't see your invite by the weekend.

NSCN is a private secure social and collaborative portal that is available by invite only for the time being. This whole societal situation that we are all in is still so new and we are learning a lot as we go so the NSCN platform will evolve with us to become the organizing, socializing and smart activism safe space that we need it to be.

There are a few things we recommend you do right away once you've signed up.

First, finish setting up your profile and remember to include your Postal Code! This piece of information will help in organizing community events that are within a reasonable distance of interested attendees and will allow NSCN to set up tools to help everyone understand the events, calls-to-action and concentration of like minded people in their geographical area.

Next, Join The Common Room group and make a “Hello World!” post in the feed to introduce yourself and join a forum Discussion. Make sure to check out the Members page to see if you recognize anyone. Keep in mind, you can only message someone after making a Connection request and having it accepted. You can Follow a member without connecting to them and you will then see their posts in your Feed.

Then, check out the FAQ section for help and get comfortable navigating the portal. We will soon be introducing more Groups and Forums that you can join so there will be more activity as we grow. For now, this is a safe space to interact with other members and get organized for immediate needs and plan for future needs.

Please note

  • We will be posting volunteer roles soon so be sure to check out the Jobs section to see if you would be interested in helping out!

  • Whilst access to the portal is free, there are naturally costs to sustaining this online community so we ask that members consider donating any amount they can or setting up for automatic regular donations (pay what you can). There might be paid features down the road but what you see in the portal now, stays within the free membership.

And now go forth! Enjoy, be nice, approach all with your heart!

In gratitude, the CANS & NSCN team
