Dear CANS members and supporters. I hope this Autumn newsletter find you all well. For those following the Yarmouth Judicial Review, our next Court date is December 06 in Yarmouth. We will be arguing against a Mootness motion which the Government of NS has put forward and we feel we have a strong position. This hearing will be important as most legal action / cases on this topic across Canada (if not beyond) have been defeated on Mootness. We will be requesting an online viewing option for the hearing so stay tuned for details on how you can attend that.
We are hosting a Meet Your HRM Mayoral Candidates evening on Tuesday October 15 from 6:30PM to 9:00PM in Halifax. While we had wanted to try to organize similar meet & greets across the Province, there were unfortunate time constraints and we were only able to manage the HRM event. A Board member recently did an interview on how the Yarmouth Judicial Review affects all Canadians because the information received in the Record for the Review (back in October of 2022) includes a lot of Federal level direction and information. Each province would have been provided with similar, if not the exact same, set of information and instructions because each province was part of coordinated pandemic-response meetings and efforts. We are also making a call out for donations. We are a fully volunteer Board and have dedicated several hundreds of hours of our time and energy in order to keep this door-to-justice open via the Judicial Review for Nova Scotians and Canadians. If you are able to donate any amount, it will be most gratefully accepted.
